Sharks leave Wild feeling small
According to a Tom Powers' article, found at Twincities.com, size played a large role in the San Jose Sharks' 3-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild. It's well-known that the Sharks are the largest team in the NHL, averaging 213 pounds per player, but what makes Team Teal even better is its skill and youth. The Sharks are truly set up to make a strong run at the Stanley Cup this year and it is nice to know that other teams recognize it.

"When a super-sized team such as the San Jose Sharks comes to town, it can mean trouble. Some of those Sharks have pimples bigger than Pierre-Marc Bouchard and Todd White. And when the Sharks crowd all five guys in front of goaltender Evgeni Nabokov, certain members of the Wild can't see the end boards, never mind the net.
Someday, the Wild will be bigger. Size often is the last element added when building a team in the new NHL. First comes goaltending, speed and skill. Then depth. Finally, the team gets bigger. And about then, if all goes well, maybe the Stanley Cup is hanging around town during the summer.
Right now, the Wild simply aren't very big. Against a team like the Sharks, it shows. Although they've beaten them in regular-season games, this is not the type of team the Wild want to face in the opening round of the playoffs."
Let's hope that Mr. Powers is right about building a team because the Sharks definitely have goaltending, speed, skill, depth, and size. The only thing missing is the Stanley Cup...
